The Good

The Igiby family help each other and lean on one another during times of suffering. This book is super funny and the world Andrew Peterson creates includes hilarious plants and animals like toothy cows, flabbits, totatoes, and sugarberries.

The Bad

There is the Carriage Black that takes children away from their parents forever. The ghastly Fangs of Dang are half lizard, half human. The Igiby children fight the Fangs.

Ages

9+ is a good age for this book.

My Take

I love the Wingfeather Saga! This first book, On the Edge of the Dark Sea of Darkness, is not as exciting as the other three tomes, but it’s crucial to read it in order to understand the world of Aerwiar. This is a must-read series! It’s a hilarious, rip-roaring tale written by an amazing Christian author. What’s not to love? For the first book, click here
