Not only can she follow Anne and Alice into their books, she discovers she can bookwander into any story she chooses. Tilly’s new ability leads her to fun and exciting adventures, but danger may be lurking on the very next page…

When new secrets are uncovered, it’s up to Tilly to solve the mystery of what happened to her mother all those years ago. From debut author Anna James comes a charming and exciting adventure about a bookish young heroine, a mysterious librarian, and a magical bookshop that will delight book lovers everywhere.

The Good

Tilly’s grandparents help her understand how to bookwander and take care of her when her mother disappears.

The Bad

Mr. Chalk makes Tilly’s mother a character in A Little Princess. Tilly’s dad is Sara’s father from A Little Princess. Oskar’s parents are divorced.

Ages

Ages 8+ would be great for this book. It would also be a good read-aloud.

My Take

I really enjoyed The Bookwanderers! A book without scary characters that still has an attention-getting plot! The climax itself isn’t as eventful as I had hoped, but the setting is great. I would definitely recommend this novel, especially to book lovers! Just a side note, this is written by an author in the UK, so they use British pounds and different family terms.
