Wonder what my reviews mean? Here you will discover what each section is about.
First you will see a picture of the front cover of the book and information about the book will be to the right of the photo.
The Good
This section tells what parts of the book are good. Such as characters that show courage, respect for people in authority, etc. This is where you learn about kind people in the book and how the author shows good things about the characters.
The Bad
If you’re a kid reading these reviews, skip this section. I normally give away spoilers, because the most dramatic parts of the book can also be the parts parents need to know about.
This is where I explain about anything that was questionable in the book, any parts that might encourage kids to make wrong choices, or things that you might not want your kid to know about yet. This is one of the main purposes of this site, showing parents things they might not want their kid to read. This, of course, is just some things that could be questionable, not everything mentioned is bad.
Please, don’t be too harsh on books! Every book HAS to have a bad guy, without it there would be no book! I would recommend to look for things that might scare your child, things you don’t want them to know about yet, or things that are inappropriate for them to read.
Ages
Please be aware the ages for these books are not based on reading skill. Every child’s reading level is different, so I don’t put down what age you should read these books as a reading level guide. I write down ages on account of the content in the book. The ages listed are on account of what I have noticed among family, friends, and myself on about what age we read them or what age parents let their children read them.
ALSO, if it says for a certain age, that doesn’t mean older kids won’t enjoy it too! For instance, the book The Candymakers and the Great Chocolate Chase, I put age 9+ should read it. I am thirteen and I loved it! So older kids will also enjoy these books. If I don’t think older kids will enjoy a certain book, I will let you know in the My Take section.
My Take
Here is where I, based upon everything I mentioned above, tell you my perspective on the book. I add what I enjoyed and thought was cool. I end with saying whether or not I recommend you read this book, based on intensity, storyline, characters, and whether or not I actually enjoyed reading the book.
