Belly Up by Stuart Gibbs
Teddy Fitzroy is in over his head. Living at Funjungle, America’s newest theme park, was supposed to be nothing but, well, fun. But now Henry the Hippo, the park’s mascot, has turned up dead, and Teddy suspects foul play. Unfortunately, it turns out plenty of people wanted Henry gone-and the list keeps growing. As Teddy searches through all the clues and asks too many questions, it becomes clear that he too might end belly up.
The Good
Teddy teams up with the owner’s daughter, Summer McCracken, to figure out who murdered Henry.
The Bad
The characters in the book swear a lot. The archbishop takes Jesus’ name in vain. Teddy almost gets killed twice.
Ages
10+ is a good age for this book.
My Take
This book was okay. Stuart Gibbs seems to not have a high opinion of christianity because he makes the archbishop take Jesus’ name in vain. Other than that, this book is pretty good. I don’t like the author’s perspective on religion, but the book itself I enjoyed
