Five on a Treasure Island by Enid Blyton
Julian, Anne, and Dick go to stay with their cousin George and her dog Timothy at Kirrin Cottage for the very first time. George soon leads them into an adventure when she shows them the shipwreck off Kirrin Island. There’s only one thing a shipwreck could mean…treasure! The Famous Five are eager to investigate, but they’re not alone! Someone else is treasure-hunting too. Who will find the loot first?
The Good
The Famous Five look out for each other and help each other out whenever they are needed.
The Bad
George disobeys some of her parent’s rules.
Ages
Ages 9+ should read this book. It could also be a good read-aloud.
My Take
Enid Blyton also wrote the Adventure series. The first book, the Island of adventure, is a mix of the first two books of the Famous Five series. They are pretty much exact, which is interesting. I think I prefer the Adventure series because it has a bit more action and I feel that the characters are better portrayed.
